SHOWCASE was started by founder Lee (Burke) Harbon and remains an ENCORE STUDIO OF DANCE tradition. SHOWCASE is an audition-based group of students from within the studio. They must demonstrate they are well-rounded performers in technique of all areas of dance, personality and stage presence which are elements judges look for from a dancing perspective making up 50%. The other 50% is based on the student’s attitude, leadership and positive role model activities in and out of the studio. We encourage confidence and sense of pride, however in a modest fashion. Students must try out each year regardless of making it previous years. Assistant teachers must also go through the try out process. The group helps construct stage props and scenes for the recitals as well as helping other students with dance steps. They are considered the “best of the best” of ENCORE STUDIO OF DANCE and are then “Showcased” at the recitals with extra numbers and additional parts or dances.
